A Director’s Take
Matt is a longtime member passionate about theatre and community. Over the past several months, he has organized and directed an independent theatre production.
How was the experience of directing and acting in your own play?
“It was a healing experience, and it was taking a chance at seeing if people wanted to build community.“
What advice would you share for others looking to create self-started opportunities?
“Practice what you love. Sometimes, you want to do what you love. Often, you don't, but sometimes you do anyway, even when you don't feel like it. Doing what you love has wonderful consequences.”

Words of Wisdom from a Member
Arlette is a member passionate about education and artistic innovation.
What practical mental health advice would you like to share?
“I think when you wake up in the morning, you should practice mindfulness. When you practice mindfulness, you are aware of others and their journeys in life, and how you may fit or not fit into that story of theirs. But at the same time, you should practice mindfulness, primarily not just for yourself, but also for the benefit of others and people around you. That will help you navigate the world better.”

Together at Our Open House
Caleb is a member who is passionate about hip-hop and video games.
What was it like to share the Clubhouse at our open house?
“It was wonderful to share. Everybody brought their best and we were able to have a good Halloween time. Everybody had costumes on, and we were making cookies. Wonderful time.”
What would you like to do for a future function?
“Maybe some games like pin the tail on the pumpkin. I don't know. Just something to do for the future - Christmas games. Oh, man! Kick a funky freestyle!”
